I do part time ADC Predator control work on a few S. Tx. ranches that raise big Deer as the main crop. The ranchers that raise big Deer want the predators removed. I use several methods and trapping is by far the biggest method. I do predator calling, too. I use and have a lot of varmint rifles almost all of them are Remington 700 rifles in calibers from: 17M4, 17 Rem., .222, .223, 22-250, and .243 Win. I use hand calls as well as my own E-caller I made with an Azden remote and a Rio 800 MP3 player that is 128 MB and I have over 65 sounds on it. I also use foothold traps and trapping techniques. I am a life member of the NTA and VHA. I am also an Army Officer and self employed guy. I hope this answers some questions. Thanks...major redfeather.

5-4-04, Bill and his Dad Joe Del Monte

Central San Joaquin Valley, Ca.

Dad arrived at 7:45 this morning so we could shoot before it got hot. He has been down for a few days after getting attacked by two big dogs while walking in his residential neighborhood so I wanted him to have a good shoot. I wanted to check the edge of rangeland next to crops but he suggested checking the silage feed piles. I told him I was just over there last week and only saw three squirrels but he insisted we check it out. I couldn't believe my dang eyes when we pulled up to the feed piles.....WHERE did they all come from in one week!!!? We pulled up to about 50 yards and shot nearly non-stop for 30 minutes. I started with my TC with the 10 .22 LR barrel while Dad was busting em with his CZ .17 HMR. The action finally slowed but was still fairly steady and at the end of 2 hours, we had shot 329 squirrels without ever moving the truck. After I had killed about 50 with the TC, I switched to the Marlin .17 HMR and those buggers sure looked good in the 12X Leo at 50 yards! There has to be at least 300 squirrels in this picture because we only saw a few drag off. Last year, in this same exact spot, I posted a picture of Dad with a pile of about 240 squirrels. Now that the native rangeland is getting real dry and the weather is HOT, I guess the squirrels are on the move to better feed.
